Merv W. Nidesh, K.C.

B.A., LL.B.

Senior Counsel

Merv has been practicing law since 1969 and is one of the longest standing active lawyers in Saskatchewan. He brings decades of experience as senior counsel at Chow McLeod, with a focus on criminal law from the Provincial Court level through to the Supreme Court of Canada.

Merv obtained his law degree from the University of Saskatchewan College of Law and is a member of both the Law Society of Saskatchewan and the Law Society of Alberta.

He has conducted numerous criminal trials across Saskatchewan and Alberta, and has extensive experience in appeals before the Court of King’s Bench and the Court of Appeal. He has also appeared as defence counsel before the Supreme Court of Canada. He remains available to act wherever his clients’ matters require across both provinces.

In addition to his legal practice, Merv is a qualified Alcohol Breath Testing Technician and holds a Canadian Securities Course Certificate of Achievement. He is also a trained mediator and collaborative lawyer.

In recognition of his distinguished career and contributions to the legal profession, Merv was appointed Queen’s Counsel (now recognized as King’s Counsel) in 1984.

Outside of work Merv enjoys travelling the world, downhill skiing, and maintaining his physical fitness.

TIMOTHY S. HANSEN

Tim received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Acadia University in 2011 and received his Juris Doctor from Dalhousie University in 2014.

Under the supervision of David Chow, former Bencher for the Law Society of Saskatchewan, Tim completed his Articles in August of 2015 and is now a practicing member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan. Tim was the Moose Jaw District Governor for the Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers Association from 2015-2018, the volunteer Discipline Committee Chairperson of the Moose Jaw Minor Hockey Association from 2018-2020, and is a member of the Justice of the Peace Review Council. Tim became a partner at Chow McLeod in 2019. He maintains a general practice including work in the areas of civil, family, corporate, administrative, debt/insolvency, taxation, municipal, and provincial law.

Tim was involved in various student representative groups at Acadia, including province-wide student lobby groups and as Editor-in-Chief of The Athenaeum, Acadia’s student newspaper. He was also a student member of Faculty Council and was Vice-President of the Law Student’s Society during his final year at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University.

Originally from Regina, Tim made it a priority to return and work in Saskatchewan after attending university in Nova Scotia with his wife Stephanie. Tim spent eight summers during his university education working on a grain farm east of Moose Jaw. He is familiar with and enjoys the lifestyle offered in Moose Jaw.

PARKER A. CHOW

Parker was born and raised in Moose Jaw where he completed his primary and secondary schooling.  After graduating from Central Collegiate, Parker attended the Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan.  Once Parker earned his Bachelor of Commerce with Distinction, majoring in Business Management, he continued at the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Law to receive his Juris Doctor.

Upon graduating, Parker immediately returned home to complete his articles with Chow McLeod under the mentorship of David M. Chow, K.C., before his appointment to the Provincial Court of Saskatchewan, and Parker was then called to the Saskatchewan Bar in early 2023.  In 2024, Parker joined the partnership at Chow McLeod, and has since dedicated himself to providing expert legal services to the firm’s vast clientele, and strived to deliver superior quality service for his clients.

Parker’s focus includes the areas of Corporate Law and Commercial Transactions, Real Estate and Farmland Transactions, and Wills, Family Trusts, & Estates.  He is particularly enthusiastic about providing comprehensive advice to his clients of proven strategies to protect their hard-earned wealth and success, and helping navigate through a climate that now seeks to remove that wealth from them at every opportunity, and punish them for their hard work.  Parker further specializes in ensuring local Moose Javian businesses get the support needed to grow and expand their business presence, while continuing to protect their own interests at all times.

Parker currently sits as a Director on several local and provincial association boards, and he assists with Chow McLeod’s volunteer coaching of the two high school mock trials each year.  Parker is also an active member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan, Moose Jaw Bar Association, Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers’ Association, and Canadian Bar Association.  Parker is also an Affiliate Member of the Society of Trusts & Estates Practitioners (STEP) Canada, and the Canadian Institute of Certified Executor Advisors (CICEA).

DEVIN R. WILDER

B.A., LL.B.

Partner

Born and raised in Moose Jaw, Devin has deep roots in southern Saskatchewan. He earned his undergraduate degree with Distinction from the University of Saskatchewan in 2016 and completed his legal studies at the University of York College of Law, graduating in 2019.

Devin began his legal career focusing on Family Law, where he gained experience managing complex and high-conflict matters. He joined Chow McLeod in 2024, and entered into partnership in 2025. His practice continues to centre on Family Law, while also encompassing Criminal Law, Corporate Law, Real Estate and Farmland Transactions.

Devin is actively involved in the legal and broader community. He is a member of the Northern Saskatchewan Business Association (NSBA), the Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers Association, and the Kinsmen Club. He also volunteers with Running Wild Rescue and participates in various community initiatives.

Outside of the office, Devin enjoys spending time with his family, working on automotive projects, travelling, and photography. 

Devin Wilder

JAMES S. ZICK

B.A., J.D.

James was born and raised in Regina. In 2007, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree with Distinction in History from Campion College at the University of Regina. He entered the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Law in 2016 and earned his Juris Doctor in 2019. While in law school, he was an active member of the Corporate Law Club, the Legal Philosophy Club, and the Runnymede Society. He also volunteered with Autism Family Services in Saskatoon from 2016 to 2019.

James articled at Lewans & Ford in Assiniboia and was called to the Saskatchewan Bar in 2020. He maintains a diverse legal practice, with particular interest in Family Law, Wills and Estates, Civil Litigation, and Employment Law. He currently serves on the board of Square One Community Inc.

Outside of his legal work, James enjoys participating in amateur theatre, learning new languages, and reading hard-boiled detective fiction.

Chow Mcleod

LYLE O. PHILLIPS, K.C.

1928-2025

Lyle graduated from Moose Jaw Central Collegiate in 1946. He then attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan on a hockey scholarship and completed one year of Engineering.

Lyle then attended Assumption College in Windsor, Ontario, an affiliate of the University of Western Ontario, and graduated in 1950 with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Business Administration.

Lyle then attended the University of Saskatchewan, College of Law, and graduated in 1953. During his three years at the University of Saskatchewan, he was Captain of the University of Saskatchewan Huskies hockey team and was awarded the MacDonald Trophy as the outstanding athlete in 1952 to 1953.

After graduation, he articled with his father, John E. Phillips, K.C., and continued practicing in Moose Jaw with him and various associates. In 1970, the Phillips Law Firm amalgamated with the Dubinsky Law Firm, continuing as Dubinsky Phillips Law Firm until 1975. Lyle then became the Corporate Solicitor and Secretary Treasurer of Fairford Industries Limited, a Moose Jaw company that manufactured steel buildings.

In 1985, Lyle returned to the practice of law as a sole practitioner. In July 2008, Lyle joined the Chow McLeod firm as Counsel. He continued practicing law until his retirement in 2020 at the age of 91, following a remarkable 66 year legal career. At the time of his retirement, Lyle was the longest serving lawyer in Saskatchewan.

Lyle was a member of the Moose Jaw Lions Club for over fifty years and served as its President. He was a senior life member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan and a former Bencher.

Lyle served as Chairman of the Church Council of Zion United Church and later as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He was also a past President of the YMCA and served as Co Chairman of the building committee for the YMCA facility in Crescent Park.

Lyle married Joanne Gibson in 1952 and together they raised two children, four grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Lyle passed away in 2025.
